Vol I - Edition I

Welcome to the new feature of the web site - the Clinic Newsletter.  Here, we will post the latest and greatest news, products and tips on a (more or less) monthly basis.  You can subscribe to receive the newsletter on the right.

The New Web Site:

The new web page has launched and includes new features and more information on our services, products, seminars and company.  We hope you like the new site design, but we are not done yet.  Shortly, we will be making a major announcement about our company and its direction and you will find that information here first.

We also wanted to give you something a little less "homey" to look at, although our mycomputerdoctors.com logo is still the same - we really like it and want to extend our thanks to Alan Povanda of The Hat Man for that design.

This Month's Tip:

Summer is coming and now is the time to do some Spring Cleaning to help your computer operate through the increased temperatures it will experience.

The first thing to do is go to your local office supply company and buy a can of compressed air.  This is the safest way to clean the valuable parts of your computer.  If you have allergies, or any respiratory problems, you should use the compressed air outdoors or in a well ventilated area.  Also, keep the compressed air out of the reach of children.  The  force of the air inside can cause serious injury if a young child  places the tube in their mouth, and the stabilizers in the air can cause serious injury, even death, if a person concentrates the contents and inhales them to achieve a "high".

Using short burst of the compressed air, direct the nozzle at all of the vents on the outside of the case, continuing to go over areas that continue to show dust flying and you go over them.  Take particular care to blow debris out of all of the visible fans on the back of the case.  This will improve air flow, and help prevent dust fouling the bearings in the fan motors and causing fan failure.

At least once a year, open the case of the computer and look for the only fan on the motherboard that is facing you.  That is the fan that cools the CPU (processor) heat sink.  Use the compressed air in short bursts around the fan and in the fins of the heat sink, removing and dust build-up inside the fins. This will keep you computer cooler during the hazy, lazy days of summer.
